Ebbetts Pass hike.    This hike was from the parking lot at the east end of Highland Lake.  The lake is down a paved/dirt road 1.4 miles west of the summit of Ebbetts Pass.  Note there are now signs anywhere for the trails and junctions of the trail.  Good cross country hiking skills are needed.   We had to cross a stream right away.  The hike was short 3 miles round trip.  We ate lunch at Upper Gardner Meadow.  The last picture is the Leviathan Mine, which is an abandoned open pit sulpher mine. It is a superfund site, as the acid water drainage out of the pit goes into the local streams.
