John Slaughter Ranch  ----Old Arizona on the border

We drove from Bisbee east to Douglas AZ.  Douglas is a border town with a history of corruption.   We bought gas in the only gas station we found.   We then went 15 miles east to the John Slaugher ranch on the border.  Although this road goes close to the border, we saw only one border patrol vehicle.  The ranch is on the border. It was a working ranch in the late 1890 until 1920s.  Now it is a museum showing how the people lived 100 years ago in the back country of Arizona.

When we left the ranch we looked for rocks, but found few.  After 25 miles of dirt road, we came to a paved road that seems to go to nowhere.  The road was stripped and had markings where to pass and not to pass.  In addition, there were signs saying to be careful and showing where it was ok to pass.  The trouble was that we show one car during our time on this road.  I think an EARMARK was used to build this road to nowhere.  We arrived at Lordsburg NM to spend the night.  Not much there and we ate the the same restaurant that we ate before.   Not much restaurant selection in Lordsburg.
